Robert Newman has an extensive professional background in the visual arts. He taught the Motion Picture/TV Program at the Denver Public Schools Career Education Center. With the move from film to digital, Robert took total responsibility for the program and developed the award-winning Digital Film Production course.
Long active in the local film community, Robert has been the Production Manager for many short films and features in the Denver region.
In 2011 Robert moved from film to still photography bringing the tight focus most often found in well-crafted films. With exquisite sensitivity he explores environments, including the landscapes of the High Plains of Eastern Colorado, and captures emotions stirred by the vast space and feeling of peace. The Weston DIA Hotel features a striking Robert Newman image that is representative of his vision.
Going far beyond landscapes, Robert’s series of “Remnants” digs deeply into society’s backbone forming an on-going collaboration that explores the “shadows of absence” and his haunting textural images capture the art in our surroundings.
Robert’s photography has been exhibited in Colorado, Nebraska, and Oregon galleries. Born and raised in Denver, Robert now lives in Lakewood, Colorado, close to his son and his daughter and her family. For more information and to see his full gallery visit www.strayimages.com.
