Patti Harrison

I have been painting for 15 years, working in watercolor, acrylic and oil. All three mediums offer different challenges, but all three satisfy different creative pursuits. I love the spontaneity of watercolor and the mingling of colors. My use of acrylics enables me to produce abstracts with vibrant color.  I use the luminous oil painting technique, an opaque base with many layers of transparent color, which results in luminous depth and beauty.

My work ranges from realism to abstraction. Our gifts in nature are the most inspiring – our Rockies, the Aspen, water reflections, flowers, bright skies and fog. The majority of my abstract work is done with acrylics; it is a creation of form, line, texture and color to stimulate the viewer’s interest. It is most challenging.

I also metalsmith, creating jewelry from silver, copper, cabochons and freshwater pearls. Like painting, the start is with a blank sheet of metal. And like the painting pallet, the beauty in the natural gem and minerals is infinite.

I am very Blessed, having been given the gift of creativity and the opportunity to study and develop these interests and to share my work with you.

I have a Masters of Business and Bachelor of Science, Accounting Major, degrees. I recently retired from my career as a Controller, which has enabled me to pursue my life-long interest in the arts. I have taken many workshops and classes in painting, drawing and metalsmithing and I will continue to do so, as every artist provides information that enables me to achieve finer results.

I was juried into the Evergreen Art Association Spring 2015 All Colorado Art Show and the 2015 Louisville Art Association National Fine Art Show. My awards include: 2015: 3rd Place- Louisville Art Association Member Show,  3rd place- Broomfield Art Guild Wonderful World of Miniature Art and  Honorable Mention-Colorado Gallery of the Arts 2015 Student Exhibition; 2014: 2nd Place- Louisville Art Association members Show; 2013: Honorable Mention-Art Gallery 3698 Mini Show and Merit Award-Paletteers Art Club Members Show.
